Girls' Uniform Regulations - Years 7 to 11
Main School Uniform
- Navy blazer with school badge.
- Mid-grey conventional / bootleg school trouser (not black).
- A mid-grey skirt in a 2-pleated back and front style (not straight). The skirt must not be more than 6cm above the knee. No other designs are acceptable.
- A white shirt blouse with a school tie. The blouse may have long or short sleeves. The blouse/shirt to be worn inside the skirt. In the summer term Gingham Rever blouse can be worn (blue and white check).
- A navy-blue v-necked plain pullover may be worn under the blazer.
- White ankle socks to be worn, girls may also wear black or navy plain opaque tights instead of socks.
- Plain black sensible school shoes, i.e. low heeled (4cms maximum), NOT boots, trainers or ‘pumps’.
- Outdoor coat in predominantly blue, grey or black. A contrasting stripe in a paler blue, grey, white or yellow is acceptable in the interests of safety. Motifs on coats are not acceptable. Denim and leather jackets are also not acceptable.
P.E. Equipment
- 2 x plain black shorts with school crest (2 pairs are advised, but this is optional).
- Black sweatshirt with school crest.
- Black polo shirt with school crest.
- Plain white T-shirt with school crest.
- Black jogging bottoms (Optional) (These may only be worn in certain circumstances with permission from P.E. Staff).
- White ankle sports socks.
- Black football socks for Hockey and Cross-country.
- Swimming costume and cap (Year 7 only).
- Towel for shower taken after every Outdoor lesson, optional for Indoor lesson.
- Trainers (Outdoor) and non-marking trainers (Indoor). It is not a requirement for girls to have two pairs of trainers. However, any pair worn indoors must be dry and clean.
Hair and Cosmetics
Hair must be natural or natural-looking. Fine highlights are allowed to improve self presentation as long as the final product is natural-looking. Brunettes going blonde or blondes going black are not allowed, and thick blocks or stripes are also not allowed. Unnatural colours such as red/purple/pink are not allowed. Hair should be arranged tidily in a conventional style, (“sculptured” hair is not permitted). For safety and practicality, long hair must be tied back from the face. A navy blue, yellow, black or white ribbon, hairband or elasticated tie-back may be worn. Make-up, nail varnish and false nails are not allowed and must not be worn in school.

Main School Uniform

- Charcoal grey conventional school trouser (not black).
- A white shirt with the school tie, the shirt may have long or short sleeves. The shirt to be worn inside the trouser.
- A navy V-neck plain pullover may be worn underneath the blazer.
- Dark Grey, navy-blue or black socks
- Sensible school shoes, black plain. NOT boots or trainers.
- Outdoor coat in predominantly blue, grey or black. A contrasting stripe in a paler blue, grey, white or yellow is acceptable in the interests of safety. Motifs on coats are not acceptable. Denim and leather jackets are also not acceptable.
P.E. Equipment
- 2 x Plain black shorts with school crest (2 pairs are advised, but this is optional)
- Reversible black/gold rugby/soccer shirt
- Plain white T-shirt with school crest
- Football socks in House colours -
- Birley/Hall – Bottle Green, Lord/Mothersill – Yellow, Rountree/Wrigley – Maroon.
- (For those boys selected for any School team, black football socks must be worn)
- White ankle sports socks
- Swimming Trunks (Year 7 only)
- Towel for shower taken after every Outdoor lesson, optional for Indoor lesson.
- Soccer boots
- Trainers (Outdoor)
- Non-marking trainers (Indoor)
It is not a requirement for boys to have two pairs of trainers. However, any pair worn indoors must be dry and clean.
Hair
Hair should be smart and appropriate for school. Extremes of hairstyle are not permitted. A water based hair gel is permissible with short hair to give a smart appearance. Other gels are not permitted for reasons of safety. Shaven heads, or hair cut so that the head (or part of it) appears to have been shaven, are not allowed. Where long hair is worn it must be tied back for reasons of safety.
Special Circumstances
There may at times be circumstances which allow some alternatives in kit, for example on religious/cultural/medical grounds. These will be addressed on an individual basis. Parents may contact the P.E. Department for more information.
In the case of severe weather
When boots are worn for the journey to and from school a pair of shoes should be brought to wear in school.
Jewellery
A wristwatch may be worn but all other items of jewellery must be left at home.
School Bag
A school bag or briefcase is needed to hold books and P.E. kit.
Coats should not be worn around school; they should be kept in lockers or carried in a bag.
